The WPP 2400 MW QFE Power Plant Project
The WPP 2400 MW QFE Power Plant Project, one of Qatar’s strategic infrastructure investments aimed at meeting the country's growing demand for electricity and potable water, was awarded in 2024 as part of its long-term development program. Developed through a joint venture involving Japanese, Korean, and Qatari stakeholders, the project is expected to strengthen Qatar’s energy security and expand its sustainable water production capacity.
Designed for high efficiency and operational reliability, the facility incorporates four Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) and two Gas Turbines (GTs) integrated within a combined-cycle power generation system. By utilizing advanced power generation technologies, the project will enhance fuel efficiency, improve operational performance, and support environmental sustainability objectives.
Handar is actively involved in the project under the Site Erection Works Package, providing comprehensive field construction and installation services. Leveraging its experienced engineering and construction teams, Handar performs all activities in accordance with international quality standards, project specifications, and strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements. Through its contribution to the site erection phase, Handar supports the timely completion of the project while ensuring the highest standards of workmanship, safety, and operational readiness.
As a key component of Qatar’s future energy and water infrastructure strategy, the WPP 2400 MW QFE Power Plant Project will play a vital role in supporting the nation’s expanding industrial, commercial, and residential sectors while ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of power and water for the future.
