Canakkale 1915 Suspension Bridge

    With the title of the longest middle span suspension bridge in the world, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge has a clear span between two towers of 2022 meters. The total length of the bridge is 4608 meters between both continents.

    HANDAR has undertaken the erection of a total of 42000 tons of steel towers at a height of +318 meters on the Asian and European sides of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge.

    Each of the Asian and European towers, designed by COWI, has a total of 128 steel blocks of 32 pcs in each of the four stands. The heaviest and largest bridge tower block, which was lifted in one piece, is the first 800-ton block resting on the foundations above the sea level.

    The management of all marine operations, the detailing of the assembly methodologies, the torque of hundreds of thousands of bolts and the welding works on the tower were all completed by HANDAR to complete the erection works of the bridge.

    Within the scope of the project, all quality control activitiess, occupational safety and other technical documentation together with As-Build drawings and handover were carried out by HANDAR.
